FOR THE SILVER BAND
FAIRYLAND AGAIN
By the kindness of Mr. Sutherland, of "Homewood," Karpri, another special opportunity will be given to visit his wonderful fairyland, this time in: the interests of tho Port Nicholson Band. It is felt that it is one of the assets of a 'city to have a thoroughly good band; it is a thing which is much missed when not available, and yet for the band to .attain proper efficiency it must.be well supported by the public; Mr. Sutherland, realising this, has decided to open his beautiful grounds to the public on Saturday afternoon from 2 o'clock till 5.30, and from 6.30 until 10,p.m. i Those who attend in the afternoon will be able to see the birds to good advantage, and, as. the aviaries : have been enlarged' and many / delightful occupants added, they are specially worth a Visit, while in the evening the recently-finished glow-worm cave will be an extra attraction. The cave is stated: to be a wonderful success, and these; with the added joys of the lovely conservatories, ferneries, rainbow fountains, and swimming pools, make a, most charming outing for citizens and visitors to the place. Mr. Sutherland is making a collection of New Zealand plants and ferns (tho Nelson district part being practically complete). This wjll, interest all those who take an' interest in the fauna of their own home.land.',-, -..','; ; /■' . . .
; It is hoped that there will be such a response to the generous offer of Mr. Sutherland that funds will be provided; to clear off debt, and leave sufficient over to enable tho band to take part in the competitions to be held at Timaru next month... ■.■;'•'■. •
