BICYCLE STOLEN
PETONE MAN FINED
A plea of guilty to the charge of stealing a bicycle, the property of Albert Spence, was made; by John Charles McDonald in the Petbiio. Court today before Mr. W. F. Stilwoll, B.M. Senior-Sergeant G. said that Mr. Spence "had tiis * bicycle removed from the street in December. He kept a sharp , lookout and reported .to the police that ho .had'noticed the saddle of tho stolen bicycle on another bic/cle. The polico discovered that tho defendant had put most of the parts of tho stolen bicycle on other bicycles. The defendant later admitted having taken, the bicycle from tho street and breaking it. up. Tho frame, he said, he had put over tho wharf. It .was most difficult, under these circumstances, to trace stolon bicycles, of which thero had been quite a number in the Hutt Valley. The defendant was beforo the Court in 1933 on a charge of theft, and; was placed on probation for twelve months. The Magistrate said ho would npt send the defendant to prison on this occasion, but would givo him another chance. However, McDonald would go to prison if he came before him again. He imposed a fine of £7 10s, in dofault throe months' imprisonment.
