MR. J. P. BLACKLOCK
Tho death has occurred at Wcstport of Mr. Juraes Pearson Blacklock, a South African veteran, who was ono of Wellington's most prominent cricketers and Rugby players about thirty years, ago. Ho joined the South African Contingent at .Wellington as a youth of 17 years, and was invalided home. He had some excellent performances as a batsman in tho Wellington representative cricket team to his' credit, and, was included in tho Now Zealand team to meet M. A. Noble's Australian eleven in tho two Tests during the tour of 1904-05. The first Test was drawn, but the second resulted in a win for the Australians by a wide niargin. Mr. Blacklock made 43 runs in the course of his four innings, his highest score being 30. He occupied the position of accountant and socretary in the firm of Hirst and Co., tanners, and was a member of the Wellington Commercial Travellers' Association. He is survived by two sisters, one of whom is in Sydney and tho other in Geneva.
