FATAL INJURIES
ICCIDENT AT AUCKLAND

-. AUCKLAND, January 7. _ • A fatal accident occurred tonight in the city, the victim being Lala Jina, a middle-aged Indian tobacconist. He, was knocked down by a motor-truck immediately in front of his shop and place of residence, receiving a. fracture of the skull and internal injuries; He had made a purchase at a shop^ on the opposite side of the street, and was returning to his business when he attempted to avoid a truck which "was being driven by a Maori, William Edwards, of Mount Eoskill. The' driver swerved sharply to the right to prevent a collision, but Lala Jina ran backward and was struck by the running board. The accident happened in the centre of the road. The deceased was a married man, his wife living in India.
