AGAINST H.M.A.S. AUSTRALIA

Two games of water polo were played on Saturday afternoon at T« Aro Baths between teams of Wellington players and members o£ the personnel of H.M.A.S. Australia. Although Wellington won'both games by a lair margin, the naval teams proved difficult combinations. Welliugtoil's principal advantage was conferred by gupemir speed, which enabled the local players to block many promising movemeets. Wellington were first to the ball, and started. • strong attack,. which culminated in an overthrow by Palmer. Palmer missed again several times With scoring shots, but just before half-time sent in a short throw which floated in. Many of Wellington's opportunities were coming from Mollier and Mclvor, whose handling and tactics were well 'worth watching.' After missing again early jn the second half, Palmer settled down. His second score came from a long pass by Williams. Shortly after Palmer brought off another fine goal by a long throw from well-out. Near the end, he caught his opponent out of position and swam through, with the ball, scoring from close in. J.
