WELLINGTON'S ENGAGEMENTS
In view of the fact that the Otago Cricket -Association has turned down the proposal ■ to' play homc-and-away matches for the P,luuket Shield this season, it is now taken for granted that each association will play the three matches as in tho ordinary course of events. This being so, Wellington's first Shield match will be with Otago, to be played at Wellington commencing on December 24.
Wellington's two other Shield matches will be played away from home, that with Canterbury at Christchurch a week after the match with Otago, and that with Auckland at Auckland commencing on January-18.
In. spite of Otago's objection to tho proposed enlarged programme of Phmket Shield matches, it is . likely that Wellington will have two extra matches with Shield teams, though not regarded as -Shield matches. Auckland has agreed to its representative team playing a special match with Wellington at Wellington on its way to meet Canterbury and Otago. ' This: will; bo a two: day match, to be played'on December 21 and 22. Later in the season Canterbury will be sending a team to Auckland for a special match there, and it is hoped that the Canterbury team will also play in Wellington on its way to or from Auckland.
