LEAGUE OF MOTHERS

SEATOUN BRANCH

Mrs. Alexander Smith, who was presented with a beautiful bouquet of roses presided over a very largely attended meeting of the Seatoun branch of the Leaguo of Mothers, held recently in the Masonic Hall,_ Seatoun.

The meeting brought to a close the work of the branch for 1934, and after formal business took the form of a social afternoon. A 'warm welcome was extended to Mrs. Kay, a member of the Westport branch,' Who.is at present visiting Wellington, and also to Mrs. Davis, of tho Mothers' Union, Levin. '

Pleasure w,as also expressed at the return to Seatoun of Mrs. Murie, who had only .arrived on the morning of the meeting from,a delightful trip abroad.

The programme was ■ opened by two greatly appreciated pianoforte solos by Mrs, Terry, fqllowed by tHree songs, by Mrs. King." A " humorous' play performed by Mesdames Allen, Higgs, Pellowes, Collins, and O'Leary, caused much merriment and was much enjoyed. Mrs. JJchoff also gave' much plcasuie by tho singing of two songs, and a competition was won by Mrs. Beard.

The arrangements for a delicious afternoon tea were carried out by ihe members under the leadership of Mrs. Matth6ws, and the thought for the aftcrnopn was provided by Mrs. Mann. Mrs. Turner thanked the performers for providing so enjoyable a programme,'' and 'Mrs. . Hogg extended thanks to the members for their entertainment'of the committee. Before dosing the meeting Mrs. Smith announced that one of the most popular, m'emberi of the branch, Mrs. George Mann, wag leaving Heatoun this month to take up her residence in Hawera and referred to the fact that she would be greatly missed, after <so long a connection with the branch. "For She's a Jolly Good' Fellow" wag heartily sung by the member* and Mrs. .Mann suitably responded. The National Anthem brought'to a close a very happy afternoon, and one more successful year in the life of the branch.
