APPARENT SUICIDES
. TWO YOUNG MEN
A-tragedy which iuvolvcd'tho rfoatli,, apparently by suicide, of a youth named William Henry Dutton, aged 17J years, occurred at a house in Parliament Street about 5 p.m. yesterday. Occupants of tho house "Heard a shot, and then discovered what had' happened. Dutton was^.dead .when found. It is u'ndci stood that a letter was found near the body. An inquest will be held.
Noticing a strong smfll of gas at :i butcher's shop in Ricldiford Street last night about 9.15 o'clock, a woman communicated with the Wellington Gas Company, which advised the police. Entry Wfis gained to the premises, and tho proprietor of the shop was found in circumstances suggesting suicide by gas poisoning. The man's namo was Albeit James Maurice, and ho was a single man, aged 27, living in Kent Tei race.
