QUESTION OE FUNDS MANAWATU DECISION Mr. A. E. Mansford' presided at a meeting on Saturday of the Manawatu Centenary air race committee, states the "Manawatu Daily Times." Mr. W. A. AVatcrs reported that, with Messrs. Mansford, A. H. Honeyfield, and A. Hopwood, he had talked to Squadron-Leader McGregor and Walker by radio telephone. The conversation had been very clear. Messrs. McGregor and Walker had been advised to ship their machine by the Niagara' if possible and, if that could not be arranged, to ship it by the Monowai. The machine would leave Australia about _ November 8 and would arrive at either Auckland or Wellington about November 12. Various matters with regard to the theatre appearances of Messrs. McGregor and Walker were discussed, and Messrs. Jackson and Honeyfield were given power to visit Auckland to bring to finality certain joint appearances of Messrs. McGregor and Walker and Messrs. Hewett and- Kay. Mr. Jackson commented that there were various opinions as to whether Messrs. McGregor and Walker'were to receive any money or whether tho committee was to receive it all. . ' Tho committee discussed the subject, and it was decided that it>'be a recommendation that in the • event of the funds being raised being in ' excess of the amount required to clear tho guarantees,1 any surplus should be divided between the pilots and aviation activities in the Manawatu. ■ ■ ' It was reported that a committee-1 had been set up to handle arrangements 'for a big "McGregor-Walker" day in Calmerston North.
