A GOOD BAZAAR
ST. PETER'S EN FETE
A well-arranged and stocked bazaar was held yesterday afternoon at St. Peter's Schoolroom in Ghuznee Street, when the fine day and many attractions secured a good attendance of parishioners and friends. Mrs. Knox Gilmer opened the bazaar, and was received by Archdeacon and Mrs. Bullock, with them being the Rev. E. and Mrs. McLevie and Mrs. Didsbury. In welcoming Mrs. Knox Gilmer,, the archdeacon remarked that the Gilmer family had been identified for many years with St. Peter's, and it was a great pleasure to find that Mrs. Knox Gilmer was able and willing to open the sale, and ho gave her a- cordial greeting from all. The object of the bazaar was to raise funds for- parish work, as during the last few years all resources had been severely taxed. He was sure that all present would do their best to help, and he looked for good results. In an interesting practical address Mrs. Knox Gilmer spoke of the fact that women take a very active interest in tho welfare of their church, and many work very hard and willingly for its welfare, and she paid a special tribute to the work of the, Ladies' Sewing Guild which had done such goodservice during the year. She asked all to continue in their efforts, and to materially help the church in which they were all so interested. ■ ; . Speaking of the old days at St.
Peter's,' ■ Mrs. Knox", Gilmer.'.- remarked that-the.!lato Mr. k Gilmor, the.father of the family; • .used-.'to. lead them all -to church, oil Sundays-^-and filled .. two pews'■'.!'with them!" When the timesVwcre^difficult was the time for . all to join tip and pull to-gether,-and she, felt sure that the members of the congregation would loyally, stand by their church. Mrs. Knox Gilmer, then declared the sale open. Little Nancy Johnson presented a-charming bouquet of roses to her,, and a spray of lilies of ,the valley to Mrs. Bullock. Later Archdeacon Bullock added his thanks, to,'all.who had worked, so well for the success of the bazaar. . . •
