SOUTHERLY CHANGE
WET WEATHER TOMORROW Special forecast for Wellington:— , Fresh northerly winds and fair weather today, but a cold southerly change and rain tomorrow. While a slight anticyclone has been crossing northern New Zealand, a shallow depression has moved gradually on to the Dominion, though pressure has risen rapidly in south eastern Australia. The forecast for the Dominion, therefore, is for moderate to fresh northerlies prevailing at firsts from Canterbury northwards, and moderate to strong southerlies southwards from there. Southerlies will extend over the remainder of the Dominion during the next 24 hours. The weather will be fair at first in most districts, but will gradually become unsettled and fairly general, though mainly light rain is likely within the next 24 hours. Temperatures will be colder tomorrow. For the most part the weather has been fair'to fine and mild, but some isolated, light rain has occurred on the east coast of the North Island, in the extreme north and south, and also in Westland. Yesterday moderate to fresh' northerly to -westerly winds prevailed about and south of Cook Strait, but by this morning winds had become more variable in direction, and mainly light to moderate in force. In the extreme south a southerly change has already talcen place. Auckland has had fine weather. Yesterday a light south-westerly wind prevailed, but this morning the direction was easterly. In Wellington the weather was mild hut dull most of the day. .. The wind freshened somewhat from the north in the afternoon, and this morning, a moderate north-north-east wind was blowing and conditions wero fair but rather cloudy. It was dull also at Christchurch, with a moderate east-north-east breeze. Some drizzling rain fell in the afternoon. At 9 o'clock this morning a cloudy sky and a light east-north-east wind were reported. Pine sunny weather- and a light northeasterly wind prevailed in Dunedin yesterday, and this morning it was ,ealm and overcast.
