SOAP OF THE WORLD
Figures recently published show that the world production of soap is increasing. Of the 4*700,000 tons produced in 1932, Europe manufactured 2,500,000 tons, the United States 1,800,000 tons, Africa and Asia 300,000 tons conjointly, and Australia and New Zealand 70,000 tons. The cleanest nation, statistically, is America, which leads the world with a consumption of 11.5 kilogrammes ■_, of soap por head a year. (A kilogramme is about two pounds;) Then follows the Netherlands 11.1; Denmark, 10; Great Briton, 9; Australia, 8.7; France, 8; and at the other end of the scale Poland, Yugoslavia, Rumania, and Bulgaria with an average of only 2 kilos or less.
