Foot Comfort
Foot comfort makes long walks a real blessing, remarks an exchange. It is not possible to. go for long walks, however, unless your feet are in good condition for walking. If you aren't used to heavy shoes, buy a pair of lightweight shoes with fairly low heels, but •with plenty of support through the arch. The toes must not be pinched, and there must be no rub at the back of the heel. A good way . to toughen and strengthen the skin of the feet is to sppnge them with cold water after you bathe, and then massage them with alcohol or witch hazel. Just before you start a long walk shake a lot of talcum powder into your stockings, or rub it well about the feet. This usually gives delightful foot comfort and keeps the feet from feeling rubbed... Exercise the feet, bare, morning and evening. Bise on the toes, and work all the muscles of the feet for five minutes, to stretch and strengthen them.
"Alice in Wonderland" and "Treasure Island" are the most popular books among girls and boys respectively, in the Isle of Wight, according to the County Librarian. Eighty per cent, of the children investigated read at least one newspaper every day.
