LONDON AND KAWARAU (By felegraph —l'ress Association.) DUNEDIN, This Day. The interests of the Amalgamated Kawarau Company have been taken over by a new company in London. The proposed capital is £450,000, and the company will be known as the Kawarau River Gold Company. The capital has not yet been underwritten, but word is expected next week that the capital has been subscribed in London. It is understood that the new company proposes to place a large modern dredge on the river.
The Christchurch Stock Exchange is in receipt of the following cable from London, dated September 4:—"Kawarau River Gold Company is being floated with a capital of £450,000 in 2s shares, of which 1,400,000 will be allotted in part-payment of the purchase consideration. The venders are the Amalgamated Kawarau Gold Alining Company, Wellington. The purchase price is £10,200 and the above shares. It is proposed to dam the river below the Arrow River junction, at an estimated cost of £70,000. The engineers are Balfour, Beatty, and Co. It is anticipated that tjie flotation will be very favourably received."''
