HUTT RIVER RATES
Ratepayers within the River Board area will receive at the close of this week the annual demand for rates. The office staff is at present preparing the demand notices for posting. There are some 4800 notices, and the aggregate amount of rates is £5007 9s Id. The board this year will lose more than £150 in rates owing to the fact that upwards of £250,000 worth of property which has reverted to the Crown is not rateable. If the board could have collected this year the rates which are outstanding there would have been no need to strike a rate, and ratepayers could have been rate-free for a
