PIKE AND HIS GOLF
The well-known Sydney jockey J. E. Pike, is a golfer, lie has been playing the game since 1926. One morning in riding breeches ho went along to laugh at F. Tupper (well-known Melbourne sporting broadcaster), M. Poison, and A. J. Matthews, as they struggled to knock a ball round Moore Park (Sydney). Some of the players seemed to be extra fluent in addressing the ball, but not so fluent in swinging through it. Pike reckoned that, as he knew the language of the game, he had better set about getting a few other angles on it. Now he is one of the keenest and most regular players from "the other turf." He scores in the low Sfl's. and has occasionally got into the high 70s.
