OLD NAVALS RIFLE CLUB
The twenty-second annual general meeting of the Old Navals Defence Rifle Club was held at the Drill Hall last Thursday evening. There was an excellent attendance.
The election of officers resulted as follows:—Patron, Mr. E. D. Bell; life vicepatrons, Miss Duncan, Messrs. K. Duncan, I. Duncan, and.A. Duncan; vice-patrons, the Mayor (Mr. T. C. A. Hislop), Messrs. E. J. Witcombe, A. L. Caldwell, C. B. Martin. R. C. Collins, and C. J. B. Norwood, Major E. Davey, Messrs. C. Hodder, C. C. Odlin, and W. H. Tisdall; president. Mr. W. Mcßain; vice-presidents, Messrs. F. Standidge and T. McGill; secretary, Mr.. M. Hugo; assistant secretary, Mr. T. McGill; executive committee, Messrs. F. Monk, F. K. Franklyn, M. O'Grady, P. W. Congreve, and C. Lawton; handicapper, Mr. P. W. Congreve; publicity oflicer, Mr. B. G. Murphy; delegates to the W.R.A., Messrs. W. Mcßain and C. Lawton. It was decided that opening day should be October 0. A hearty vote of thanks was given to the retiring secretary, Mr. W. Kelly. Just before the conclusion of tho meeting the trophies won last season were presented by Mr. Standidge. R. Congrove, club champion, received the Duncan Memorial Cup, iind G. Thomas, B grade champion, received the Deniiison Clip. The Hugo Cup was won by F. Franklyn. the Rabe Cup by J. Stevens, the Hodder Cup by R. Congreve (he has now won it outright), the Presidents Cup by W. Mcßain, and the Franklyn Cun by B. GV Murphy. The last season ended with a substantial cash balance, and the club looks forward to a good season. It was decided to give the fullest possible support to any endeavour nf the Wellington Rifle Association to try to obtain the use of the Sommervillp Range for the coming season.
Mp'sh's. E. Palliser, E. P. Hay, A. L. Wnrburton, and Dr. J. H. Graham Robertson, are the , retiring members of the executive committee of the Automobile Association (Wellington^, as decided by a ballot last evening. They are" eligible for re-election at the annual meeting.
