FREE KINDERGARTENS
MONEY-RAISING EFFORTS
The "Wellington Free Kindergarteu Council met yesterday, a large number of members being present.
An interesting report was Teeeived from the delegates to the recent Free Kindergarten Union conference.
The holding of the annual cabaret party was fully discussed and committees set up. During the month a committee composed of Misses Widdop, Fraser, Hempton, Eastwood, Jones, Marsdon, Luckie, Briton Smith, Hope Gibbons, Robert' Gibbons, and Dixon had met at the residenco of the president, Mrs. Doctor, to discuss ways and means by which they could co-operate with the council in making this party a success. Plans, it was stated, were now well in hand, there was every promise that a most happy evening would be arranged. A limited number of bridge tables were availablo also. The council passed a vote of thanks to Mr. Coull for kindly donating the tickets. Full particulars of the "Waste Material Exhibition," to be held in connection with, the Caledonian Fair in November, will be in print next week. Very useful and worth while prizes have been donated, totalling eighteen in all. This helpful co-operation on tho part of so many business firms has been of special value to the council.in arranging the exhibition;

Corkill, Mrs. Gray Young, Mrs. Sinclair Thompson; £1 from Mr. W. B. Morris; 10s from Mrs. H. B. Chahnor; ss, Mrs. Sutherland, Mrs. IBauchop, Miss Morris, 'Mrs. Morris, Messrs. W. D. and H. O. Wills, Mrs. ,T. P. Firth, Mrs. Park, Miss Wallace, Mrs. O. B, Green, Mrs. Thos. Brook, Mrs. Hoby, Mrs. K. Luke, Mrs. Newton, Mrs. W. Cunningham, Mrs. Lees Jones, Miss Danby. ■ i Two bridge parties were held during 'the month on "behalf of kindergarten funds, one by Mrs. Lockic, which realised £1 8s 9d, and one by Mrs. Hamilton Cate and Mrs. Briton Smith, which realised £2 0s 9d. The kindergartens have been closed for the term holidays, but have now reopened, and arc commencing the work for the Christmas term.
