CHAMPIONSHIP PLAY
All events in the Wellington table tennis championships will be continued this evening. The finals in all events will be contested on Wednesday.
Advice has been received that the following team will represent Auckland against the Wellington Association next Saturday:—Paton, Cheal, Burke, Stallworthy, Woods, and Stowell. Mr. H. C. Herbert will accompany the team as manager. A keen struggle- is anticipated for what will virtually be the provincial premiership of the Dominion. Last year Auckland won 18-14 at Auckland. The qualifying rounds of the interclub competition have now been concluded, and indications point to some interesting games in the final matches for championship honours. In the A grade the unbeaten Government Life team appear almost certain winners. Tlie second position on the ladder is occupied jointly by Wellington and Census B. Both teams have lost one game only, in each ca«c to the leaders. , . In the lower grades the following teams have won their respective sections, and have qualified to play off for the final. ■ B Grade.—First section: Government Life, unbeaten with 7 wins. Second section- Taxes and Customs first, equal, with 6 wins and one loss each. Third section: Crown, unbeaten with 7 wins. •C Grade—First',section: Printing, unbeaten with 7 wins. Second section: Northland Fire Brigade, unbeaten with 7 wins., , Third - section: Audit, unbeaten with 7 wjns. Fourth-section: St. Johns Hostel, unbeaten with 7 wins. D Grade.—First section: Agriculture, unbeaten t with'7..wins. Second section: Milk Department, unbeaten with 7 wins. Third section: Karon and Pensions first, equal, with 6 wins and one loss each. E Grade.—First section: Economic, Wellington, and Taxes first, equal, with 6 wins and one Joes each. The game m which Native defeated Wellington has been awarded to Wellington through Native playing a player from a higher grade.' Second section: Northland lire Brigade, unbeaten with 7 wins. The play-offs will be on the "knockout" principle, and the following is the draw for the rounds to decide the nnalB'Grade— Government Life v. Customs; Crown v. Taxes. C Grade.—Printing v.
