IN RAIN AND SNOW
SOUTHLAND BEAT SOUTH CANTERBURY
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, September 1. Rugby Park was sodden today for the representative Rugby fixture Southland v. South Canterbury. Rain, hail, and sleet fell' intermittently, and a cold wind blew throughout the game, which was won by Southland by 3 points to 0. The Southland forwards were outplayed' in all departments except ball possession,, which in the circumstances was not a great advantage. The ball was ..a dead weight from the commencement, but both sides fielded and kicked well, and the game was full of incident. Geddes scored an unconverted try for Southland in the second spell..
