DUNBDIN, September 1. Li a boys' hockey match for-the Hatch Cup Canterbury defeated Otago by 2 goals to nil.
WOMEN'S TOURNAMENT
(Jiy Telegraph—Press Association.) GHRISTCHURCH, September 2. Seventeen women's hockey teams from all parts of the Dominion are taking part in the annual women's tournament, which opened on Saturday afternoon. There are twelve teams from the South Island and five from the North Island. Before the tournament began the teams ■ paraded and marched past tiie Mayor, Mr. .Sullivan, and spectators, the whole making a colourful display, with the banners and distinctive uniforms of the teams. After the march past the teams lined up before the Mayor who briefly welcomed the visitors and wished them a successful tourney and an enjoyable week in Christchurch. iMsrht matches were played o.i Saturday. lla\ in this tourney is not by the knock-out method; every team meets every other °The i'oilowiuii are the results of games:— Otago B. beat Canterbury B 1; Canterbury 4 4 beat Akitio 1; Eastern Southland b, beat Bush 0; Ruahine 4, beat West Coast 0; Central Otago 3, beat Wairarapa 2\ Southland 5. beat North Otago 2; Marlborough 3, beat Wellington 2; Ashbuvton •2, beat South Canterbury 1.
