GUN-DOG TRIALS

EVENTS AT LOWER HUTT

Gun-dog trials were held under the auspices of the Hutt Valley Kennel Club on the property of Mr. M. Ongley, Waiwhetu Road, on Saturday. The water trials were held in the morning, and the laud trials in the afternoon. Eighteen dogs were entered, and a most enjoyable time was spent by .the spectators in watching the clever work of the dogs. At the close of the events the president of the club (Dr. G. F. V. Anson) said that the trials were devised not only to interest people but to induce gun men to train tneir dogs to the state the spectators had seen that day. Shooting in the Wellington Province would be improved by the training of gun dogs. He was very pleased with the manner in which the programme had been carried through.

The judge, Mr. A. Dawson (Christ-c-hurch) said that the trials had been excellent for a club's first effort. There were some promising puppies up here. There was not a hitch in the whole programme, and the club should be proud of its first field.trials.
