OBITUARY
MR. J. M. BERTRAM
: The death, occurred last week oil Mr. James Munro Bertram, of 11 Rodrigo .Road, Kilbirnio.. The late Mr. Bertram was well known in Wellington. Tor some time lie was farming, first in Wanganui, later in the King Country, and then at Levin. Ho came to Wellington in 1918, and did valuable work in connection with the influenza epidemic, being a member of the Lyall Bay committee. More or loss in retirement for some years, he again] wont farming, tlxis time at Makara, and later ho took up a property at Manakau with his son, Ivo. He was a prominent member of the executive of the Nearby Farmers' Association, and did a great deal to put the nearby farmers' case before Parliament. At one time the latd Mr. Bertram was president of the Lyall Bay Progressive Association. Ho was always interested in local politics, and was a member of the Wellington Hospital Board for thrco years. Ho was formerly a! member of the LyalJ Bay 'Bowling Club,' and at the timo of his death was a, member oi' the-H.utaitai Bowling Club. I Predeceased by his wife, he leaves two sons, Ivo, farming afc Manakau, and Percy, who is associated with tuo legal profession in Wellington, and two daughters. The funeral took place yesterday and was largely attended.
