Opossum trappers in tho Wellington ' - acclimatisation district, ato finding the ; .season a rather hard one. It is stated * ■ that the marsupials are not so numerous • as many people suppose, and the effects of tho recent blizzard upon tho 'forests wore such as to mako trapping impossible for a timt>. This was especially tho case amongst trappers from Penearrow along tho coast to tho southern .Tararuas, all the southern •;. lispect of the high country receiving ;.-; an 'unusually largo coating of snow. :•'.". This fall was so heavy in parts that 'i the trees broke under the weight of tho sndw, and the traps and trap lines were obliterated until it thawed. It
