WOOLLEN NIGHTDRESS IN FEATHER AND FAN STITCH

This dainty Ajghtdress, which is knitted in feather and fan stitch, is lined with georgette, and is finished with a two-inch ribbon tic.

Directiona will follow for making an attractive bed-jacket which might be worn with this,gown.

Materials: Seven, loz.balls of piulc 3-ply wool, one pair of No. 12 and No. 5 * knitting needles, a medium-sized crochet hook, three yards' of pink georgette for lining, and two yards of pink ribbon for sash.

Measurement: Length from shoulder to hem, 54 inches.' Width all round at underarms, 37 inches. Width all round the.hem, 66 inches. . .

To Make Up Nightdress.—Press on wrong sldo. with ■ dump. cloth.-and hot iron. Sew up shoulder seams. Now cut your georgette lining to the shape of the woollen overdress, allowing inch more georgette to turn In, Cor the yoke, and shaping iho side seams gradually to the hem, leaving the hem the full width of material. Sew up side seams of lining and overdress. Using ■ a 'crochet hook and pink wool, work a shell ■ edge around the neck and armholes as follows: Join in wool, • 1 double crochet into,edge, then 1 chain,; 1 treble into the same hole, 1 chain, 1 treble into same hole, 1 chain, I.treble into next hole, 1 chain, 1 treble into same hole, 1 chain, 1 double crochet into same hole, 1 chain; repeat from * all! round edge. Fasten off. Using a teazle brush, brush up the shell edge, to give an angora finish. Now'leave the lining and-overdress to hang on a dress hanger "overnight, < You wilr find that the woollen dress has dropped a few inches. Cut the lining about half an inch, shorter than,the overdress. Have the hem of lining hemstitched for picot edge. ~Now sew the. yoke of-lining to the woollen yoke, turning hem of georgette and • catching it just • inside the shell edge. Make two1 short-lengths of chain with pink wool' and attach to sides for the sash to go through. ■ Thread ribbon through and tie in a bow.
