A SPECIAL RESOLUTION
. A special resolution was passed by 'the .committee of'the Society for the Protection of Women and Children at a recent meeting, in regard to a recent regrettable occurrence, and was as fol- ] ows; —"That this committee urges that unless a person is of good character ho (or she) shall not be eligible for the position of liconsee of any place of public .amusement." It was decided to forward this to the City Council. It wus stated that in the case of hotels Certificates of character were required and inquiries were made when these licenses were applied for, and it was felt that places where young people went for amusement should be safeguarded in the same way. The secretary reported on a number of cases, both new and recurring. Mr?. Hogg (Seatoun) was -cordially welcomed^is a new member of the committee. Some donations wero handed in towards Christmas at Wellington Hospital.
