Last night witnessed finality for 1934 of tbc strivings of many aspiring artists ranging from tiny tots under nine to people of mature years, competing in musical, vocal, elocutionary, and dancing classes under the control of the Wellington Competitions Society. A fortnight's competition is over, and the smoke having rolled away, his Excellency the GoVornor-Gcne'ral will-pre-sent the laurels at a special demonstration concert at the Town Hall tonight. The concert should afford excellent entertainment. Prominent among the items proposed will be the singing by Miss Christina Ormiston of the winning musical compositions of New Zealand composers, "A Maori Lullaby," composed by Mr. Owen Jensen, and '' Away in the Forest," by Mr. H. M. Hullett, in a Dominion-wide competition arranged fiy the Competitions Society at the suggestion of Lord Bledisloe. Mr. Jensen, the winner, will- accompany Miss Ormiston at the piano. The adjudicators were officially thanked and farewelled last night by Mr. G. W. Morgan, president of the society, at the conclusion of the judging.
