BUDGET AND CUSTOMS
Parliament next week will devote: the whole of/its time to the Financial Debate, which it'is anticipated will be finished in the following week.' The Committee stage of the- Customs Amendment Bill will bo entered upon after tho Financial Debate ends and will probably be protracted. The whole of the items will be under review, and it is known that a number of amendments will, be presented to the House. Labour members, will try to secure higher protective duties, while a group of North Island members will. support Mr. C. A. Wilkinson's amend: ments to the wheat duties. ;
The period for which the Dairy Commission was appointed expired today, but the Prime Minister '(the Bt. Hon. G. W. Forbes), in an interview, announced that there would be an extension, of the Commission's term. TMb would-be done at Monday's meeting of the Executive Council. The interim report which was expected has not yet arrived. "
There is no sign, yet of the Native Affairs Commission's report, and a hint of possible delay was given by the Mm? istcrof Lands, who, when speaking in the House, said that it might be necessary for the Government to bring down legislation next" session as the result of these report*
