LONDON, August 30.
In a message from Lake Bled, Major Butler, Princo George's equerry, revealed that the Boyal engagement had been arranged five days after their arrival in Yugoslavia, though the Prince had no intentiou of marrying when ho left England. Ho announced the news at a family gathering attended by Princess Marina and her parents, when the party was on the point of going to Salzburg. They kept it a secret until it was announced in a London Court circular.
The impression in official circles is that Prince George's wedding will bo in the third or fourth week in November. It is unlikely that the Greek Orthodox Church service will be necessary in addition to the Abbey service. As the Greek and Anglican Churches are in close brotherhood, the marriage ceremonies are much alike. There is no precedent for the son of a King being married under a courtesy title, so there is a likelihood of the Prince being created Duke of Kent or Edinburgh as the King's wedding gift. The Prince of Wales, who is at Biarritz, is understood to have telegraphed Princo George offering congratulations and suggesting the possibility of a flying visit to sco Princess Marina and his brother before he returns to London. Princo George gave Princess Marina
Prince George gave Princess Marina the engagement ring yesterday. It is learned that they became engaged on Sunday, but the formalities before the announcement occupied two days.
