WELCOME HOME IN PROSPECT
Lydney (says the "Western Daily Press and Bristol Mirror") is justly proud of tlio splendid work of Lord Bledisloe, Governor-General of New Zealand, whoso ancestral home is at Lydney, and the Lydney Parish Council has decided that ho should be given a warm welcome when ho returns nest year. The suggestion of a civic welcome was made by Mr. Yeatmun (vicechairman), and the counci! agreed to consider arrangements. Mr. 3?. H. Ycatman said that following his letter remarking on tho splendid way in which tho tenants of the recently-erected council houses at Lydney had kept their gardens, he had received a reply from Lord Bledisloe offering a trophy for annual competition for the best council house garden. Lord Bledisloo further stated that he would bo prepared to offer a second silver cup for gardens of houses other than council houses.
Tlio council decided to write to Lord Bledisloo thanking him. for his offer.
