LODGE MEETINGS

ORDER OF DRUIDS.

Mewburn Lodge.—Bvo. H. Townsley presided over a fair attendance. Sick allowance for a member was passed for payment. Accounts were passed. P.D.P. Bro. F. Lyall installed Bro. 15. Underwood as V.A.D.B. At the conclusion of lodge business, P.A. Geo. Drummond gave an illustrated lecture, entitled, "Development of the House through the Ages." The lecture began with the "house" in the prehistoric 'ages, and continued on through the ■ Stone Age '■ to the Roman "house," with its graceful construction. The lecturer continued on through the ages to modern times. Those present were Bros.' F. Lyall, Burley, E. Staudige, J. Standige,' Goffe, Meehan, Townsley, Steer, Underwood,, Matthews, and others. , FORESTERS' ORDER., Court Loyal Northland.—C. It. Bro. Cooper occupied the chair. As a mark of respect to the late Bro. T. Plant, members stood-in-silence for a few moments. -The secretary was directed to forward a letter of condolence to the widow and family conveying the court's sympathy iv their bereavement. The usual report of sickness ■was furnished by the Woodwards, Bros. Rutherford'aud Unett. An invitation waa extended to members of the court to attend a meeting of Court Lady Glasgow. A welcome was extended to Bro. T. Lawrence, a foundation member of the court, who is not always able to attend meetings. A long discussion ensued on the question of the reconstruction of the capital'of tlw United Friendly Societies' Dispensary, ana it was finally moved and seconded that the court's delegate on the Dispensary Board be 'directed to record his vote against the proposed' alterations. A new candidate was elected. The remainder of the evening was spent iv playing indoor bowls. Court Sir George Grey.—Bro. T. "Westwood presided over an average attendance. The Woodwards reported that two brothers had declared on the funds of t.ie court and three off tlie funds since the previous meeting. . Members stood, in silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Bro. G. Judd, who was an old and respected member of the court, having joined in 1875 and passed through the chair in 18S3. Bro. G. W. Key, jun., siiid Bro; T. Westwood, delegates to the Dispensary Board,' reported1 on a recent nicetin" both brothers being thanked tor their reports. Bro. J. Wilson, who is leaving for Melbourne at the end ot the month, was accorded the best wishes of the court, and asked to convey fraternal preet; ing to any' Court that he may visit in Australia.' 1.0.0. F., N.Z. Muritai Lodge.—Bro. C. Cheeseman, N.G., presided over the recent meeting. Bro. Burgh, D.D.G.M., Butt Valley, was a visitor. It was decided to reorganise the social side of the lodge along new lines, entertainment in future after lodge business has been transacted to include _ cards, ping-pong, and games .of different kinds. MANCHESTER UNITY. Loyal Sister Wallis Lodge.—Sister Douglas, N. 6.: was the presiding officer, iwo new members were initiated. After the initiation ceremoiiy was completed a minor degree was given several members. Loyal ' Britannia Lodge.—Bro. K. 0. Spring, N.G., presided over a large attendance. The business transacted during the meeting included the election of treasurer and sick visitor to fill the positions rendered vacant by the death of Bio. O'SullJvan. Bros. Stewart and Trcadwetl were the successful candidates for the respective positions. During the .evening Bro. Brown, P.D.G.M., paid a tribute to the faithful service rendered to the order by the late Bro. O'Sullivan. Sick visitors reports were received and sick pay passed. The question of purchasing a set of indoor bowls was left in the hands of the social committee. Three new members were initiated. At the conclusion of the meeting members played ping-pong. Loyal Rose of the Valley: Lodge.—Bro. Hollis, N.G., presided over a large attendance. Lodge honours were accorded Bro.'Foote, of Loyal Petone Lodge, who suitably replied. Officers of the lodge initiated four new members. At the conclusion of the meeting members enjoyed a pleasant hour at games and cards. GRAND UNITED ODDFELLOWS. Wellington District Council.—Bro. ■ McQueen, D.M., presided over a full meeting. Report's were presented by Bro. McQueen on the work being done by the sports committee upder the [leadership of Bro. Pal; mer and Sister Hall, secretary. Bro. Tingoy reported on a meeting of the United Friandly Society's Council. The amount oi business to be dealt with was unusually large, so a' special meeting wan arranged to. deal with the ritual competition and other urgent matters. Accounts amounting to £6 6s were passed for payment. Star of Lower Hult Branch.—Bro. Blaka waa the presiding officer. Two. brothers were l-eporfed sick and the usual payments!, were passed. Bro. Hickling was nominated for admission to the Council Masters' Chapter. A donation was made '.o the sports committee towards expenses incurred in the football and hockey matches between teams from town and. suburban branches. Sister Reid was elected to the social committee. The meeting concluded with harmony. • Star of New town Branch.—Sister Murphy, N.G., presided. Sick pay was passed and urgent business dealt with, tha meeting being adjourned early for the purpose of carrying'On with a social evening. Several members from other branches ami friends attended, and an enjoyable evening was'spent, in danciug and games. New-town Alpha Branch.—Only a sbovt meeting was held in order to allow cards to be played with members of Miram.ir No. 2 branch for the Martin Cup. Newtown Alpha retained the cup on a draw. A. very enjoyable evening was spent. Loyal Ryde Branch.—Bro. Knywood pre-sented.-the accounts of the Tennis Club for (he year ended July 31.
