Dr. H. F. MeNickle, of Mansfield, Nottingham, England, has been appointed; resident surgical officer of the Wellington Hospital.

, • At the monthly meeting, of the Wellington Hospital Board last evening references were . made to the recent deaths of two former members of the medical staff of the hospital, and, on. the ni6tion of the chairman (Mr. F. Castle) resolutions of condolence were;" passed, expressing sympathy with the relatives of the late Hon. Dr. W. E. Collins and Dr. W. M. Shand. Tributes to the work of Dr. Collins and Dr. Shand were peid by the chairman, Dr. E. Campbeil Begg, and Dr. D. Macdonald Wilson.

Items wore rendered by Misses Brooks and {Wright and Mr. B. House. In his reply, the guest gave a brief history, of the'growth, of the parish and the building of St. Augustine's Church. He also made eulogistic reference to the late Mr. T.O. List, who Was formerly a member of St. Augustine's Church.

On his completion of 54 years of service as minister of the Auckland Hebrew congregation on December 15, the retirement will take place of Rabbi S. A. Goldstein. It is the intention of the.board of management to recommend the congregation to appoint him Rabbi Tenieritus. He will be succeeded by ths Rev. A. Astor, who has been-acting as his assistant for the past three years. .-...'
