AFTER HOURS TRADING
LICENSEE FINED
On'a'charge of selling liquor after hours; John Coyle, licensee of the Dominion Hotel, was fined £1 by Mr. X' Page, S.M., iii the Magistrate's Court today. For unlawfully supplying liquor after hours, John Higgins, barman at the hotel, was fined £3, and on charges of being found on licensed premises after hours, William Connolly, Thomas Duggan, and Owen Welsh were each fined £2.
Sub-Inspector Koach said that at 3.40 a.m. on August 4, a sergeant and a constable,heard sounds inside the hotel, and when they,rang the front door bell the light was switched off in the corridor. On gaining entrance to the premises the police heard the chink of glasses.upstairs and noticed that the keys were in the bar-room door. Some men were also found on the premises. The1 licensee was in bed, and he said he handed over the keys as usual to the barman, who had authority to supply lodgers only. . . It was stated on behalf of the defendant that the barman had been dismissed, and that the porter now had to obtain the keys from the licensee before he could supply lodgers. __■ ,
