THIS MORNING'S RECALLS

This morning's work, at the "Wellington Competitions Society's festival was continued in three halls, and some excellent form was revealed. Results are as follows:— INSTRUMENTAL. (Judge, Mr. T. "Venion Griffiths.) Chief Piano Solo, open to any amateur over 1G; (a) "Weeping Mist" (Frank Hutchens); (b) own selection.— Recalls: Mr. Frank Blackman (Polonaiso Op. 53) and Miss Patricia Beckett (Fantasie Impromptu). Highly commended: Miss Audrey Whitelaw, Miss Eileen Roache, Mr. Maurice Hood, and Miss Alvinza Curtis. ELOCUTION. (Judge, Mr. J. Howlett Boss.) Beading at Sight, boys under 10. — .Final: lan Galloway, 1;' Len Crothcrs, Humorous Recitation, ladies, open, own selection. —Recalls:' Miss Constance Kelly and Miss Daphne Violich. . Recitation in character, humorous, boys under 12, own soleetidn. —Retails: Alan Bruce and Jim McCarthy (Napier). Recital with Musical Accompaniment, I men, humorous, open.—Mr. Robert Cheync ("Jane's Medals") and Mr. Samuel Rowe ("Of Course"). (Judge, Mi\ Barton Ginger.) Humorous Recitation, girls under 12, own selection. —Final: Loris MeEwan ("Story of a Tack"), 1; Pamela Hills ("The Waybacks Getting Ready for the Zoo"), 2. NATIONAL DANCING. (Judge, Miss Jean Braid.) Highland Reel, under 16.—Final: June Scott, 1; Margaret Lawrence, 2; Gracie McKay, ?>. In the Irish Reel yesterday, the first prize for the individual dance went to Miss Jean O'Connor, second prize to June Scott, and the dance team (Jean O'Connor, Dell Saiidlant, Patricia Dt>c, and Jean Prangley), of the Claude Sandor School of Dancing, secured first place for the team. work.
