ELECTION OF SUCCESSOR

The High Council of the Salvation Army, comprising 47 men and womon, holding high office in tho movement in various parts of the world, met today in London to appoint a successor to General Higgins, when he retires from the leadership on November 1. Tho meeting was held in priya'tc, and the voting will be by ballot.
Those taking part in the movement include Commander Evangeline Booth, daughter of the founder of the movement, and Catherine Booth, daughter of the late General Bramwell Booth. It is understood that.both are among 15 who have-been nominated for the Generalship. The result 'will not be known until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest. ;'•■....
The Duke of York" will preside at a farewell meeting to General Higgius at tho Albert Hall on November 1.
