GOOD TRIAL AT HAWERA

HAWERA, August 28.

A- contingent of over twenty Haweratrainecl horses leaves tomorrow morning for J^ew Plymouth to take part at the Combined Hunt Clubs' Meeting, to be held on Thursday and Saturday. Although many of the horses will be facing the barrier after a good lapse of time, several are forward enough to give good accounts of themselves. ■

■ Taranaki sportsmen will be pleased to learn that Caries is to race in his old colours, arrangements having been completed transferring the interests of the game little Nigger Mtustrel gelding to Mrs. Kobert Hicks. ,

The semi-final gallops for the meeting were performed on Saturday. The outside of the course proper was used with the peg 3 33ft out. . The course was heavy and cut up freely, times being necessarily slow. ': ..."'■■
