SEASON'S FIRST CLASSIC
South Australia has the distinction oi staging the first classic event of the season, the Adelaide Guineas, and the race run the Saturday before last i-esulted in a victory for Almura, a filly by King of Mirth. King of Mirth won the same race ten years ago. Subsequently he scored in the South Australian Derby and was the best three-year-old of the season in South Australia. King of Mirth is by Comedy King, son of Persimmon, and thus traces to the St. Simon line.
