PROBATION GRANTED
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Subject to the statutory and certain other conditions, Hugh Ferguson, aged o'3, on a charge of attempted rape, was admitted to probation for two years by the Chief Justice (Sir Michael Myers) in tho Supreme Court yesterday.
ilis Honour said that sinco the prisoner's case was before* tlio Court last week 1)0 had received reports about him, particularly as to his physical condition resulting from accidents he had suffered earlier. Having regard to what was contained in the reports as to the prisoner's age and generally as to all t.bo circumstances, his Honour said lie thought tho ends of jnstico .would be satisiied by his releasing the prisoner on probation.
Ferguson was ordered to pay £10 costs, and another special condition of his release is that during' tho period of his probation ho. must not live within -0 miles of Collingwood.
Mr. J. E. Kerr, of Kelson, appeared for the prisoner.
