WOOL FOR ITALY
Secrecy is being observed in official circles regarding a . communication received from the High Commissioner, discussing the position which has arisen as a result of Italy's throat to impose restrictions on the importation o£ wool from many countries, including Australia. It has been learned, however, that the Italian Government has informed the Commonwealth that it does not intend to discriminate against Australia in any restrictive measures that may be taken. In 1032-33 Italy was Australia's sixth largest customer for greasy wool and Hie seventh best purchaser of scoured wool. Since 1031 the value of Australia's scoured and greasy wool exports to Ttnly were as follows:—Scoured wool: 1930-31, :50,7621b; in3l-3--> 113,2261b: 1032-33. 130,8141b.
