ON TRENTHAM TRACKS

THIS MORNING'S GALLOPS

AUTOPAY'S SYDNEY RACING

(By '' Rangatira.'')

Trent hum stables have onJy iive horses included in nominations that have been made for meetings immediately ahead, so that them continues to be little active work on the tracks. The weather has improved during the last two (lays, and the going was ensy but otherwise in good galloping order on the trial grass and two-year-old tracks this morning. With snow on the langes behind the course it was still very cold.

Autopay was exercised only. He is in fine condition for his Australian trip. He leaves in charge of his trainer (E. Simpson) on Thursday, and he will have his first start across the Tasman in the Camellia Stakes, 7 furlongs, at the Rosohill Spring Meeting on September 15, the .same day .as the Eosehill Guineas and Hill Stakes are run. He was successful in this event three years ago, and then went on to win the Epsom the following month. His owners (Messrs. IST. E. Aitken and H. F. Wood) will probably leave for Australia next week.

Redeem, with her trainer aboard, was given a working gallop over three furlongs. She claims engagements at Marton, and Wanganui.

Suneo (N. S. Jones) was worked alone over six furlongs, running home the last half-mile in 54sec. Purse (J. X Robertson) ran half a inilo alone in 52Jscc. To Ua (T. Jennings) slipped over half a mile in 52sec.

Eed Sun (A. Hobson) continued his education as a jumper, being sent over the western flight of two schooling hurdles twice. He fenced satisfactorily till the last obstacle, into which he slipped and flattened. Orby's Last (I. Bohloff) and the Diaequenod ■ — Degagc three-year-old gelding (G. Ridgway) sprinted half a milo. oii tho two-year-old track attractively in 50iscc. The Diaequenod gelding showed" a lot of speed, but Orby's Last drove up near the finish to beat him by a, head to the post.' Neither of this pair has immediate engagement, but Orby's Last may be raced at Masterton.

East Cape (W. Tippott), Nightlass (Robertson), and Carpathia (L. Harding) sprinted two furlongs on the two-year-old track in 25isec. Nightlass, who is owned by the Ballinger estate and will make her debut at Wanagnui, was squeezed out at the start, but she finished powerfully along the inner to be within half a length of Bast Cape at tho post, Carpathia being over a, length back. East Cape and Carpathia are two of Mr. W. E. Kemball's juveniles who may shortly bo senfc across to Australia. ■

Two other of Mr.'Komball's youngsters, Eoseville (Robertson) and Golden Glow (Harding), also sprinted two furlongs, taking 26|sec. Rosevillo was an easy victor, Golden Glow not appearing to like galloping in company. Recent additions to D. McCauley's team are Bellbroney and Redtop, who may resume lacing at the Marlborough Meeting at tho end o£ next month. Bellbroney is still owned by Mr. A. M. Farra'll, but Eedtop will race in new colours. Redtop is no stranger to the track, as he did his early work at Trentham.
