Studio Dance. Spring flowers made dainty: decorations in danco and supper-rooms at Miss Gwenotho Walshe's studio, • the Evening Post Buildings, on Saturday evening when a delightful danco was given for pupils and their friends. The attendance on. so unpleasant an evening was proof of the popularity of Miss "Walshe's dances, and, as usual, the entertainment provided, including several competition dances and exhibitions by Miss Walshe and her dancing partner, were enjoyed to tho full. Those who won novelty dauees wore Miss Wills and Mr. Bovan ("Old Spinning Wheel"); Miss G. Lutzky and Mr. S. L. Tremaine ("Air Raid"). Miss A. Fitzgerald and Mr. B. Watkins ("Baee Game"). Ohiro Home. The members of the Y.M.C.A." Optimist Club, under tho leadership of Mr. W. H. Hindle, gave a social evening to tho people o£ the Ohiro Home. Tho programme of song, wit, and comedy, to tho accompaniments of Mr. J. Duncan, was thoroughly enjoyed by tho old folks. A light supper (provided by tho visitors), followed by tho thanks of the management and inmates to their entertainers, closed the pleasant 'evening. Pleasant Gift Party. Miss Nita Wareham was hostess at a delightful party at her home, Onopu Eoad, Lyall "Bay, on Saturday afternoon when Miss Mabel Jollands was' entertained at a gift tea in honour of her approaching marriage. Charming decorations of daffodils and anemones were in evidence and' a bright fire made conditions inside very cosy. A pleasant time was spent' by a large number of guests: . A delicious home-made afternoon tea was served, after which the many gifts were opened. Miss . Warefiani was in amethyst elephant crepe and Miss Jollands was in floral pebble crepe. Among those present were Mesdames E. Wareham, E. Cashman, G. Maxwell Jcnkinson, I. Tringham, H. Brouby, G. Li,dgett, C..8. Ellis, W. Clarke, E. Ellis, Kent, and Misses Irene, Euby,' and Mary Wareham; E. Jollands, J. Aldo'us, M. Shand, W. Wood, Carstens, Wilson, A. Outtrim, E. Shand, E; Windloy, R. Cunningham, and T. de Launy. An Official Visit. Congratulations were given by Mr. Dutton (Corps Superintendent) and Mrs. Gaby (Lady/ C.S.)S to the Suburban Nursing Division, to whom they paid: an official visit, on the efficiency of their work in tho'making and-applica-tion of poultices and fomentations, bedmaking and bedside work, first-aid, and home nursing cases. Mrs. McWhanneQ (Lady Superintendent of the division) thanked the members of the corps staff, and they were aftorwards entertained at supper, concluding an' interesting and pleasant evening. Invitations Issued. ■ The executive committee of the Overseas Loaguo has issued iuvitationß for an evening reception to be held at an early date. Their Excellencies the Governor-General and Lady Bledisloe have signified their intention of being present. To Gretna Green. ' A couple dashed trom a dance in Glasgow early one morning a few weeks ago and drove to Grotna Green, where they wer6 married at the smithy, states an exchange. The couple were Duncan McMillan, a coal cutter, and Miss Agnes Mclnnos King. They were ongaged, and arrangements had been made for a formal wedding in a Glasgow church in August. At tho dance, however, they decided to make a sudden dash to Gretna Green in ordor .to. avoid tho fuss and worry of a church wedding ceremony. They told some of their frionds at the dance, and four of them consented-to accompany the lovers. The bridal party arrived afc the smithy shortly before 7 o 'clock in tho morning, but even at that early hour Mr. George Eennison, tho blacksmith ; was ready to marry them. Ho had, in fact, been got out of bed by a charabanc party of sightseers on their way to Ayr races..
