RUGBY, August 10.
A settlement was reached this afternoon between representatives of ■ raiV waymen 's trade unions and the general managers of the four great railwaygroups, under \\ hich partial restorations of the economy cuts in men's wages which took effect hi 193 a will be made, first, in October, and later in January. The, concession* made by the eo."nipanies tall below the unions' demands, but -will iuvolvo an annual increase of the companies' expenditure exceeding £1,500,000. On the Stock Exchanges Home rails recovered on the news of the wages settlement, and several Horn* industrials improved.
