KEEN DEMAND FOR HOGGETS.

MASTERTON, August 10. A large yarding-of- sheep, cattle, and pigs was offered by. Wright,, Stephenson, and Co., Ltd., at the Carterton sale today. The sheep yarded consisted principally of hoggets, which4 met a* vciy keen 'sale* at prices in advance of those ruling at late sales. Among the cattle were several exceptionally: choice springing heifers which sold readily at increased prices. Best sorts of dairy cows were also keenly sought after, but late cajvere and cattle lacking quality and condition were not in demand. The large, pig entry met. a good sale. Sheep: Ewe hoggets, 23s 6d to 24s 7d; wether hoggets, 18s lOd to 21s; b.f. hoggets, , email, 14s 5d to: 15s; small w.f. hoggets, 14s to 15s 9d; fat ewes, to 225. Cattle: Springing heifers, close to profit,'best, £4 10s to £5 10s; others, £3 10s to £i; later calvers, £2 158 to £3 2s 6d; • springing cows, - £3, £4 105,.£4 15s, to £5 2s 6d; backward, 35a to £2; cows, just calved, £2 10s to £4; forward cows, empty, £2 to £2 6s; store cows, 10s to i"s 6(1. Pigs: Weaner pigs, lls-to 17s Cd; porkers, 27s to 365. Gd; sow and litter of 8, £0; sowami litter of 0. £G 10s: sows to farrow. £3 to' £1 2s Od.
