NEW YORK, August 9.
In the most hectic afternoon sessio since the United States abandoned th. gold standard, Reading currencies advanced rapidly on Thursday, following President Roosevelt's silver nationalisation announcement, sterling advancing 4 3-8 cents for a new 1934 high at 5 dollars 9} cents.: French gold francs went up 4} cents at C.67 cents, and the Canadian dollar 11-16 cent at 1 dollar 2 11-16 cents. ■'■'■
