On;' the completion at Aix-les-Bains of tho first stage of the International Alpino motor-car trial, which began from Nice yesterday, competitors agreed ,tliat the course had been the most trying ever experienced in this event.. . . . '
Recent heavy storms had turned many of the mountain roads into- rockstrewn tracks. The race follows the difficult mountain routes of France, Italy, Austria, and Switzerland, and drivers will get little rest before reaching their goal on Sunday. ...: ■ There wore many mechanical casualties yesterday, but all the 45 British cars entered reached Ais safely.. Today's ronte of about 300 miles is from Aix to Interlakeo over the Great and Little St. Bernard Passes and the Co! Dupillon. '. .
