A horse held to have a good chance.in the 'Winter Cup shpuld be capable of showing a trial of lmin 40sec or better in" fairly firm goitig (writes "Sentinel"). The^ race record is v, held at lmin 40sec, with 9;5' carried by Le Choucae when the nine-stone minimum existed. The next best under the nine-etone minimum is lmin 4l6ec, put up by Bon Spec in 1922 when carrying 9.8/ and by Kahikitoa, who won with 10.2 in 1031.
