Passing southerly showers fell je&terday in the eastern districts from Coolt Strait northwards', but elsewhere, though very cold, lhe weather was mainly fair. Since last night an antl-cyclono has extended over the uliote, of tho New Zealand area and, consequently, by this morning the s>outheily winds had becomo light-in most parts and the weather fine practically generally.
