SKIPPERS LIMITED
The following report has boon received by the directors of Skippers, Ltd., from the claim manager, Mr. K. D. Climie: — "The weather is.'keeping line, but the frosts have been more severe again. We are working .with what water is available and steady progress is being made. We are in interesting country, and at the present moment I am unable to say just how far we are off the bottom. We seem to be in a large crevice which is filled with slabs of schist, and until these arc removed we do not know where we are. There seems to be a large old wall on the western side of the elevator, but it is considerably higher than the crevice we are in." Since the above report was received the claim manager has telegraphed as follow: —''Weather good; still among boulders; all work progressing well." BELL HOOPER. The mine manager, Bell Hooper, reports for the week ending August 3:—Xo. 1 mine area —Block E: Blocking out continued for payable gold. There has been a tendency for the values to become lower One more panel remains to be extracted, adjoining the No. 1 main drive. Only the parts of this which are payable will be taken out. Block Q: The west cross drivo holed into the No. 2 north stope drive early in the period. Payable gold was obtained riprht up to the intersection. The intprseetion was caught up on Monday night, but an unexpected run from ths roof tilled the workings and the remainder of the period was occupied in resecurin^ the place, so that the progress for the week has been small, nnd also the gold return from this block. No. 2 Mine Area—No. 1 north drive: This drive Was advanced L'l feet for the period, the total being 71Vi feet from the centre of the west cross drive. About two.and a half feet of gravl is now showing in the drive as the bottom has dipped down a foot in the last thrne sets of timber. It is still dipping slowly. The drive is not yet far enough north to intersect the calculated position of the main channel. Only traces of gold have been obtained in the samples taken. MINING HOUSE, LTD. Mining House (N.Z.), Ltd., has increased its capital from £500 to £5000, by creation of -4500 ord. shares of £1 each. •
