DELIGHTFUL EVENING
DELEGATES ENTERTAINED
While last night was cold and gloomy enough outside to damp the spirits of many people, it had no effect on the bright cheerfulness of the party given at the T. and G-. Building by tho council and staff of tho Wellington Free Kindergartens to the visiting delegates who are attending the present conference. It was a most enjoyable evening, much'appreciated by all present.
Mrs. J. A. Doctor- (Wellington president) received the guests, wearing a charming gown of black velvet with narrow lines of silver, the epaulettes being silver-edged, and,a posy of bright flowers being worn on one shoulder. Lady Sidey (president of the Dominion Kindergarten Union) was in a handsome gown of black moiro silk with touches of white.
Mrs. Doctor, who had arranged tho brief, but very artistic programme, al-lon-ed the guests plenty of time for conversation in between the items, and with the many subjects of interest in common, there was a continuous hum of voices, seemingly on encouraging matters, for cheerfulness was tho dominant note.
Songs, which were enthusiastically encored, were given by Miss Monica Malfroy and Miss Edna Parton, with accompaniments by Mrs. Charles Maedonald, who also played for the charming violin solos given by Miss Kuth Reid. Supper was served in the club dining-room later, the tables being bright with spring flowers intermingled wjth brown birch.
Among the guests were Mrs. Kidd (Auckland), Mesdames J. A. Hannan and Ewing (Dunedin), Mesdames Thackev and J. Murray (Clnistcliurch), and Miss Ford and Mrs. Bauehop (Hustings). Tho principals present included Miss Enid Wilson (Wellington), Miss Dutton (Dunndin), and Miss Colegrove (Auckland). Mrs. Dowsetfc (Wellington lion, secretary), and Masdames H. Hall, D. C.
