Mrs. H. S. Barker, Chrislchurch, is the guest of her mother, Lady Nolan. Wadestown. Miss Joan Murehison, Lake Coleridge, is the guost of Mrs. Vincent Ward, Herctaunga. Mrs. Alfred Kidd, Auckland, arrived in Wellington yesterday for the conference- of tho Kindergarten Union. Mr. and Mrs. Stronaeh Paterson, AVellington, are visiting Dunedin. Mrs. Stuart Sidey, who has boon visiting Wellington, has returned to Dunodin, accompanied by her sister, Miss Joyce Thomas. Mrs. A. Bell, Karori, will leave tomorrow for Christchurch, where she will stay with her daughter, Mrs. Kile Diehl, for race week. Mrs. 33. J. Cordtfer, who h:is boon in Wellington for the past week, will leave for the south tonight. Mr. and Mrs. T. Ayrtou, Wellington, are visiting in the South Island. Miss Eileen Goodson, Wellington, is the guost of Mrs. J. Johnston, Blenheim. Miss E. Smith, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. A. J. Brown, Havclock South. Mrs. B. A. Bettle (Palmerston North) and Miss M. Chapmau (Nelson) are at the Empire Hotel. New Zealand friends will be pleased to learn that word has beon received from London that Miss Joan Anderson, j M.Sc, daughter of Dr. W. J. Andcri son, M.A., LL.D., and Mrs. Anderson, lof Shannon Street, Wellington, has been appointed to the staff of the Rothamstead Experimental Station at Harpenden, London. Miss Anderson's post is that of assistant to Dr. C. B. Williams, M.A., Sc.D., director of the Entomology Department of that insti- [ lution, and she was to have talwn up j her duties on August 1. When tho lastmail left both Mrs. and Miss Anderson were thoroughly enjoying f-hcir holiday in England. They were then about to start on a motor tour of the i North of England and Scotland, with ! Dr. Ted and Miss Margaret Gibbs, of Wellington. Mrs. Anderson and Dr. and Miss G-ibbs will be leaving for Now Zealand via Suez in the middle of I September.
